About
What is VAC?
Voices Action Change (VAC) is a project which aims to involve service users, families, or carers in how services are designed, run and reviewed. We aim to make service user involvement meaningful, accessible, and part of the day-to-day culture in substance use services. VAC utilises a strength-based approach, drawing feedback from those with lived and living experience. We combine our voices with professionals from health care services, drug and alcohol services or criminal justice.
How do we do it?
VAC helps to gather feedback and provide advice for various topics such as, emerging drug trends, hostel support, harm reduction etc. This can be initiated through joint-working or co-producing work with external services. VAC is independent and our team consists of a peer mentor, a co-production lead and volunteers.
Who we work with?
VAC works alongside CAVDAS’ Alliance which consists of Kaleidoscope, Recovery Cymru, Barod and Cardiff & Vale Area Planning Board. Each organisation brings its own specialism to the Alliance, and we also have a very strong peer support team. We help to bring established, experienced and emotionally resilient individuals to support these services. We utilise co-production and our expertise to help organisations improve and progress for the better.
We work with individuals, peers and services to increase development opportunities.
A fast-paced project created with, not for, people with lived experience. VAC aims for genuine co-production with users of our services to improve service delivery. A positive initiative to drive real change, because “Nothing about us, without us.”
