CAVHIS

VAC and CAVHIS have been meeting bi-monthly since April 2025.

CAVHIS are a health inclusion service which gives short-term help and health checks to people who are
  • Seeking refuge or asylum
  • Homeless
  • Prison leavers
  • Gypsy, Roma or Traveler communities
  • Sex workers
The team offers kind, respectful and dignified care. They help people:
  • Get the right healthcare
  • Register with a GP
  • Start long-term care

VAC reviewed CAVHIS’ promotion poster and made some suggestions. Some of which included the additions of partnership logos e.g. VAC, Cardiff Council etc., a change in some of the language to make it more service user friendly and remove acronyms.

VAC can’t wait to see this poster in the community where they’ll be running health clinics in hostels. VAC are also helping CAVHIS develop patient cards. The previous VAC suggestions were discussed with the In-reach Working Group and there was a positive response, although more work needs to be done on this idea to get it off the ground.

The group suggested that a system like the NHS booking app could be useful as all the relevant information can be stored online and would be password protected, however the group did note that the individuals using the CAVHIS servicer may find it difficult to engage with the app. CAHVIS had also presented a ‘patient feedback survey’ to VAC and we helped to co-create some the questions. VAC will be support CAVHIS by completing these.
